About Karen & Scott

Karen was born just outside of Montreal, Canada to David and Dorothy Horton. She has two older brothers - Doug and Bob and a twin sister Patricia. Her family moved around a little bit! From Montreal, the family moved to Ottawa, Ontario. Then, tired of the long winters, the family picked up and moved to Hawaii. After three fun filled years in the sun and sand, it was time to head back to the mainland, specifically Stamford, Connecticut. Karen graduated from Cloonan Middle School there. Her Freshman year they moved to Dallas, Texas where Karen graduated from Lake Highlands High School. Then it was off to college at the University of Texas at Austin (Go Longhorns!). After receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Business, Karen started with GTE (now Verizon) and has been there ever since in a variety of roles in Human Resources Compensation. She lives in Coppell, Texas (about 10 minutes north of DFW Airport). Karen enjoys music, photography, traveling, walking, and watching sports (especially ice hockey!).

Scott was born in Portsmouth, Virgina to Don and June Murdock seven weeks to the day after Karen was born.
He has a younger sister, Melissa. His family moved around quite a bit, too. First back to Texas in Kingsville and Corpus Christi, then to Surrey County in England, then to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he graduated from the international high school. Then it was off to college at Texas A&M (Gig 'Em, Ags!). After graduating with a masters degree he pursued a career that morphed from finance to technology, mostly at Fidelity Investments and Omnicom. He recently started a new job at Turner Construction. Scott enjoys travelling, camping, playing pool and guitar, and watching sports (especially football!).

Karen and Scott first met at the Art Festival in Addison, TX in May, 2004. They had a great time dating and did a lot of travelling together around Texas as well as visits to Colorado, Vegas, Florida, Oklahoma and even the Caymans. They have a lot of common interests and love spending time together. Scott proposed to Karen in December, 2005 at Del Frisco's in Dallas... and she said yes! Thank you for being part of this special day.
